DLA Landscape and Urban Design were appointed by Apollo Construction, to provide landscape architects services associated with the delivery of a contract to extend and refurbish the existing school from a one form entry to a three form entry facility.

 

Works in involve some refurbishment of some existing spaces and reconfiguration of others to extend the existing Nursery and 1 Form Entry primary to create a 3 Form entry school on a restricted site with complex phasing. Works included new hard play space, and ecology garden, climbing wall and MUGA.

 

A timber deck covered walkway acts as an 'outdoor corridor' linking all the classrooms together. Directly outside each new classroom on the eastern boundary the decking extends to create a semi-circular outdoor teaching space. Existing raised planted areas and palisade fencing will be adapted and extended to accommodate two of the new outdoor teaching areas.
