DLA prepared proposals for the refurbishment and extension of an existing infants school in suburban south London. The aspiration of the school was to become a Children's Centre and consequently the scheme required substantial remodelling to create the necessary accommodation and facilities.
The plans include the demolition of a cramped internal corridor and library spaces with the new external landscape being drawn through to the heart of the school. This new piazza creates a flexible learning space offering open plan or cellular external spaces which can adapt to school assemblies, class based learning or one-to-one tuition.
