Construction Value: £55 million
Following a successful OJEU submission, we were appointed by Burnley College to design and deliver a brand new campus to replace the existing outdated landscape infrastructure. Working closely with DLA Architects we provided a multidisciplinary design service to create a first class facility linking the college with the Burnley Town Centre regeneration initiative.
The scheme involved the rationalisation of pedestrian access to provide a safe and more direct approach for staff, students and visitors. The landscape proposals seek to emphasise the college's prominence and provide value and support for students, staff and the local community.
The spatial strategy was supported by a high quality design proposal which informed the demolition of an existing teaching block through the creation of a large central feature courtyard. The central space within the campus provides a dynamic external environment for outdoor teaching, performances and socialising for both staff and students, with additional full inclusive access responding to current DDA legislation.
